The Artist, In His Own Words "A self-taught photographer, I began my journey during my college years, looking for scientific research and studies which celebrated humanity in all its diversity. After a brief tenure in sports and geography, I turned my mind towards the area that most spoke to me: anthropology. That's when I discovered the history of masks and the different ways in which people would wear them around the world. My interest then shifted into understanding and finding those basic human practices common to all people, that one could find expressed with subtle nuances in various communities around the globe. Visual arts, in their most global sense, was thus great in helping me find the countless ways to represent reality through art. Then something changed in me. I realized that I did not simply want to capture beauty, but that I also yearned to participate in this collective process of creativity. That's when I learned how to master the visual tools which would give me the artistic and cultural foundation to go beyond the state I was in. Graphic design blended with photography opened new doors to my visual imagination. So there lies my inherent dichotomy- as I am both a witness to life and a "creator" of a certain aesthetic genre. There is inside of me a deep individual freedom which enables me to flourish in my personal works, and then there are the creative constraints which come from having to give people, clients, organizations, what they need, based on their own vision. A state of creative yearning coupled with a defiant spirit. And always, with a desire to share and give to oneself and to others. ALGO. ~ |

They live primarily in Morocco where they have a formed a society of masters, musicians, fortune tellers, cult leaders and followers. Together, they practice a spiritual ritual ("Lila de Derberda") which has african and afro-arabic culture blending with muslim traditions.
