| Welcome to "African Consciousness": 15th Edition! ~ Art, Beauty and Perception~ Beauty, as we view it in our daily lives is at its core, subjective. Subjective, because we all perceive in different ways those little treasures that bring a touch of light and color into our lives. Yet, when one speaks of art, the question of what is beautiful becomes far more complex, as art, being a reflection of the artist's vision, life and voice, is by nature, subjective... I love discovering new works of art- those precious moments when, for the first time, I find myself in front of a painting, a photograph, a text, a melody, a sculpture... Precious moments- each different, based on the art piece. Sometimes, it's instantaneous: I look, I see, I understand, and I am immediately transfixed by the great beauty of the artwork at hand. In other cases, a more thorough approach is needed. I look, I observe, I analyze, I question... And then I find... And I discover... And finally, I understand. And so, I feel, I hear, I follow the voice... And I am transfixed by the creative genius of the artist. Such is the magical nature of art... The power of creative expression... The gift of the artist. And so, for this new edition of African Consciousness, I invite you all to follow the gaze of the artists, to listen to their voice, and to find the inherent beauty that lies in their art, the one that will echo the beauty of your heart!
