| Welcome to "African Consciousness": Issue No. 11! ~ Art & Culture~ To me, culture is the most intimate and truthful expression of the essence of all us. It is the quintessential element that unites us as human beings. Culture is the beauty that lies in our differences... It is the key to discovery, the window to "otherness"... Culture symbolizes people as a whole. Culture is History, it is the reflection of our lives, the sum of all experiences.... Culture is one's identity seen through a painting, a song, a text, a spoken word, a photograph... Culture is our common humanity seen through art! I love culture. For this new edition of "African Consciousness", it is thus with great pleasure that I present you with artists and intellectuals whose works embody culture in her many forms: as a human quest, as a celebration of one's origins, as openness to others, and always, as a mirror to one's soul.
